In 1941, young Jim Banner dreamed of making furniture and cabinets. In those days in the Blue Ridge Mountains, subsistence farming was the main source of livelihood. With help from his father, Jim and his young wife Mattie planted six acres in cabbage. Using the proceeds earned from selling the cabbage, Jim bought woodworking tools. Soon word got around of this gifted young craftsmen and he was busy building homes and cabinets all over the area. With Mattie’s help, Banner’s Cabinets was soon established and before long expanded with the addition of other local craftsmen. Jim and Mattie’s son Joe joined the family business  when he graduated from North Carolina State University in 1967. Grandson Joseph came on board in 1995 when he graduated from North Carolina State.

Banner’s Cabinets is truly a family business. All three generations are dedicated to continuing the quality of work that has come to mean Banner’s Cabinets.

Three generations of Banners have been producing quality craftsmanship in the finest of woods for more than half a century. Every item that comes to life at Banner's bears the unmistakable mark of craftsmen dedicated to their art.

Today, a combination of hand-crafted artistry and state of the art machinery allow us to produce the finest cabinetry and doors for discriminating homeowners. One vision.Quality craftsmanship. During the early years, several additions were built to. Jim’s original shop. The first major expansion of the facility was in 1978 and the most recent was completed in 1997. Today, Banner’s Cabinets consists of a 60,000 square-foot shop, and a 15,000 square-foot wood drying kiln, which further allows us to control the quality of our product. Our storage area can contain up to 1,000,000 board feet of lumber. We are now in the process of adding a 3,500 square-foot expansion to our current showroom and are in the planning stages of another 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
